Medical Astrology - Gall bladder stones

Got a frantic call from a relative whose mother has been admitted to the hospital with severe diarrhea, blood sugar fluctuations, exhaustion and extreme stomach ache. The advanced age of the patient made the situation more worrisome. The diabeteologist who is the primary doctor for the old lady did a preliminary examination and conjectured that the lady might be having gall bladder stones. This is a condition that overweight people with diabetes can get.

So I got a call asking if the diagnosis is correct as the sonography doctor was not available for two days to confirm this diagnosis. Since the lady's daughter gave me a seed number I had to rotate the chart by 4th house. The chart and significators are as follows:

To check if a diagnosis is correct or not, we have to look at the 6th CSL and the star lord of the 6th CSL. Either one of these two has to be placed in a sthira rashi and the other one should NOT be placed in a dwiswabhava rashi (can be in Chara rashi, thats ok). Also, neither one of the two must be Mercury or be placed in a 4 degree orb conjunction with Mercury.

In this case the 6th CSL is Ketu posited in the star of Rahu. Ketu is posited in Kumbha Rashi and its star lord is in Simha Rashi. Both are fixed signs. Also neither RA/ KE are within a four degree orb of Mercury. As such the diagnosis is correct and the lady indeed is afflicted with Gall Bladder Stones.

This diagnosis was confirmed just a couple of hours back by a sonography report.

Now see how beautifully the chart shows the affliction. The 6th CSL is Ketu. Ketu is posited in the 4th house. 4th house signifies the chest region. But see where it is posited. Its posited right at the end of the 4th house, just a degree or two before the 5th house (which signifies the stomach). Now see where the human gall bladder is located (I do not own this picture):

The gall bladder is located right under the ribcage, ie at the end of chest and beginning of what we may call the stomach region.

Ketu and Rahu naturally cause diagnostic confusion. The lady was suffering for 2 days before the issue could be diagnoses (and it still was pending conclusion from the sonographist end till a couple hours back). In addition Ketu is in close conjunction with Neptune the planet of illusion further complicating the diagnosis.

Also, Ketu is posited in Kumbha which is a sign owned by Saturn. Saturn signifies  the gall bladder. Saturn due to its 'hard' nature is considered significator of bones. Using the same logic it can be considered to be the significator of stones.

The houses signified by Ketu are as follows:

Posited in: 4
Aspected by none
Conjunct with none
Star lord Rahu: 10* (see below)
Sign lord Saturn: 1 4 5; Me: 1 9 12

Rahu:
Posited in 10
Asp by Mars: 3 7 2; Sun: 1 11
Asp by Saturn: 1 4 5; Me: 1 9 12
Star lord Ve: 2 8 1
Sign lord Sun: 1 11; Ju: 12 3 6

As can be seen the 6th CSL strongly signifies the houses 1 6 8 12, causing the illness (1 6), severe pain (8) and hospitalization (12).

Usually the remedy for gall stones is surgery. Now Mars being Antara lord and 6th CSL being Ketu suggested that surgery will be recommended.

But for type of treatment it is the 5th CSL we need to look at. 5th CSL is Moon, in the star of Saturn. moon signifies the houses 5, 10; Sa 1 4 5, aspects 12. For surgery to happen the 8th house needs to be signified by the 5th CSL.  In this case, 8th house is not being signified and thus I do not think surgery will be required and it will probably come down to a very long period of medication (Moon is in the star of Saturn).

Logic of the Seed

Those readers who may have consulted with me may have been intrigued by me asking for something like this:

"Focus on your specific question. AFTER your mind has become focused on that specific question, give me the first RANDOM number that comes to you, between 1 and 249. Remember, the number needs to be a RANDOM number and NOT your lucky or favorite number"

This number is the seed that I use to plant the prashna or horary chart.

Lots of those who have asked me a question have wondered why they need to give a seed and it seems non serious to them. Hence I am doing this post to give the basis of this seed.

To understand why a seed is needed lets take a hypothetical situation. Lets say Narendra Modi walked into a traditional astrologers office and asked "Will I become the PM of India in the next election?"

The traditional astrologer will then proceed to cast the prashna kundali of the time Narendra Modi came into his office and will give him the answer based on the Muhurta chart.

Now suppose, Narendra Modi, Rahul Gandhi, Nitish Kumar, Laloo Yadav, Arun Jaitley, car pooled to the jyotisha's office and entered together and each asked, "Will I become the PM of India in the next election?" Now the traditional jyotisha is in a fix. Because the same time chart (or even a slightly different time chart for each of them) will now give the same answer. Earlier the muhurta chart would suggest victory or loss, but now with multiple people asking the same question, to whom specifically does the Muhurta chart apply?!

Stellar astrology proceeds on the assumption that the person coming with the question already has the answer encoded in the planets with him. The jyotisha's dharma is only to interpret it for him. It is for this reason people who have consulted with me may have noticed me asking them to prioritize their questions, if they have multiple questions.

So what does the Seed do. The Seed, FIXES the Ascendant of the chart, irrespective of the actual Ascendant of the time. For non regular readers, Ascendant is the first house of the 12 houses and is the one rising on the eastern horizon. So once the ascendant is thus 'artificially' fixed, all the other 11 houses will be fixed and the chart will become PERSONALIZED.

Such a bespoke chart will give the specific answer to the question that is being asked. So people entering in together will still have different charts as we are no longer depending on the actual position of the houses or cusps, but an artificial one. The seed is nothing but a divine intervention into the querent's mind and hence it has to be a random number and not a favorite or lucky number. In fact those unfortunate enough to know me personally have to pick a number tag out of a bag or turn to a random page in a book I give them. It has to be THAT random. And only after their mind has focused on a specific question.

Now why 249? Some may ask. Well, there are 249 subs aren't there! How? We know there are 12 signs, divided into 27 constellations and each constellation broken into 9 unequal parts, each part being ruled by a planet (this is the sub).

So, 27 * 9 = 243.

The balance six come from 6 different signs in the chart, where the star (constellation) and the sub remains the same, but the sign changes. This happens in Aries-Taurus, Gemini-Cancer, Leo-Virgo, Libra-Scorpio, Sagittarius-Capricorn and Aquarius-Pisces.

So these 'broken' star-sub combines in 6 places give six additional sign-star-sub combinations which then give

27 * 9 = 243 + 6 (broken) = 249

So the entire 360 degrees of our cosmos are broken into 249 parts and when the querent chooses a random number he is basically saying, "for my question divinity wants the Ascendant to be fixed at the beginning of point so-and-so"

Example:

I have generated a random chart with a random seed number of 100 to show this difference. actual sign ascending at this moment on the eastern horizon is Sagittarius. So the first house or cusp will in reality be there,,,represented by the TmAsc in the figure above.

BUT, for my hypothetical question, the Ascendant has been artificially fixed in Leo which changes the house or cusp (cusp is just the starting point of a house, I use the terms interchangeably), placements.

So if a child was born at 12:44PM in my location, his ascendant would have been in Sagittarius and his Moon would have been in the 5th or 6th house (same for other planets).  BUT, for the purposes of a question that is asked of me, I have personalized this chart by fixing the ascendant causing planets to change houses and thus change their significations.

So now I can hand my random number bag to Narendra Modi, Nitish Kumar, Rahul Gandhi, Laloo Yadav and Arun Jaitley and ask them to give me a random number each. And in a span of 15 minutes have bespoke answers for all of them!

Anatomy of evil

Here are the Nadi significators of someone this jyotisha has the opportunity of knowing well. The person is undoubtedly the most cruel that I have encountered in my life. While 'evil' is a strong term, what exactly is 'evil'. Lack of sensitivity? Tremendous ego? Aggression? Selfishness? Need for self importance to the point where the person does not care what they have to do to others to get it?

Lets look at the significators, and readers can do a similar study for people they know. Feel free to write in to bhairaviuvacha@gmail.com with your notes and experiences.

The significators are:

Aggressiveness, need for self impotance, limitless ego:

The combination of 7 8 12 gives the person these traits. Ketu, Venus, Sun, Mars (broken), Rahu, Jupiter have the full combination of 7 8 12. Even the balance planets have a 7 8/ 8 12 in them. This person is extremely aggressive and has a tremendous ego. Another pointer to the ego is the number of 1s present in the significators. 1 means self, so this person cannot see the point of a world where this person does not exist. Six out of nine planets here signify the 1st cusp for this this native,

Drama:

7 8 12 also shows the 'dhongi-ness' of the individual. For non Indian readers, 'Dhongi' means someone who projects something they aren't. A lot of the 'vedic' jyotishas for example, who wear long gowns, big marks on their forehead, and generally act holy, must have some form of this combination in their charts. All this feeds into their need to look holier-than-thou or different from the natual population.

Complete disregard for others feelings:

We know that 2 5 11 is the combination for child bearing. What does child bearing mean, it means love and caring. Similarly the combination of 2 5 9 11 also denotes a loving and caring individual. 1 4 10, which are maraka sthans for 2 5 11 are considered as marks of a cold, calculating person, with absolutely no empathy in them. 1 4 6 10 is also the combination for cold behaviour. Ketu, Venus, Sun, Rahu, Jupiter have the full combination of this attitude. Saturn and Moon have part of the combination.

Interestingly the native's Ascendant sign lord is Jupiter. Asc will determine the basic nature of the person and as one can see from the significators above, the combinations 1 4 10 and 7 8 12 are part of the basic make-up of this person. So I doubt the person feels that they do anything wrong at all.

Continuous state of strife:

Some people thrive in a vitiated environment, and thus always want to keep some strife going. Since the 6th house represents enemies and 7 8 or 7 8 12 represents strife, the combination 6 7 8 or 6 7 8 12 will represent such people. Look at the number of these combinations from the Nadi significators above, four planets out of nine. So this person spends half the time in creating strife, as that feels the most natural and comfortable for the native.

Unfortunate:

6 8 12 combination without the 10 11 make a person face continuous failures and generally unfortunate. This is the classic sign that that a horoscope is a representation of our past lives karma. The negative traits this person has brought forward makes life hell for people unlucky to be around (thankfully this jyotisha is not one of them). But this person will not get success or lasting happiness from this behaviour, due to 6 8 12s. God and Karma cannot be bribed. The odd part is that such people use misfortunes befalling them as a justification for their behaviour! Afterall, with so many 1 4 10s, they are only concerned with damage to self and not to anyone else.

Dabbles in occult?

The '?' is because this is not something that I know for a fact. But look at the prevalence of the '8 12' houses in the significators. The 8th and the 12th houses have a lot of esoteric significance. The 8th house represents going into the depth of something and the 12th house is that of something that is very removed from the ordinary. Thus these houses are receptacles of that which is beyond ordinary human intelligence, beyond logic.

Interestingly, Asc lord Jupiter for this person is sitting in the 12th house of the occult, further increasing my suspicions. The lord of the 10th house (of worldly achievements) is also sitting in the 8th house. The 10th CSL is sitting in the 12th house.

Also, look at the number of 4s that arise in the chart. 4th house is the house of secrets buried deep within. This person is secretive and people around such a person will not have any clue of what is happening in their mind or their activities. Another necessity for the negative manipulators of energy.

The directional arrangement of planets that I discussed in the past post, indicate that Saturn (work) is conjunct with Ketu (spiritual) and is aspected by Rahu (karaka for black magic or deeds associated with the dark). The reason this jyotisha feels that the native is not dabbling in tantra for the purposes of liberation is due to the lack of the 5th cusp and the 9th cusp in the chart. 5th is the house of Dharma and Love, 9th is the house of religion and pilgrimages.  In fact, in this chart the 5th house appears only twice and in both cases is afflicted ( 5 7 12 combination in Mars and 5 8 12 in Moon).

This is not an individual who is in quest for a higher goal in life and this the 8 12 if used for occult is finding representation through the basest of means. Revenge, jealousy, anger and ego.

Cruel profession:

Another interesting thing that regular readers may have noticed is the profession. With so many 1 6 8 12s, the native had no choice but to be a doctor. Even in directional association of planets Saturn + Ketu suggests a medical related field (like I said in the last post, this directional business is good for confirmation, not so much for prediction). Now readers will wonder what is such a person doing in the noble profession of medicine. Abortions!

While this jyotisha is all for women's rights and planned parenting, it is one thing to support something conceptually and quite another to remove a fetus from a womb, thus 'killing' it. In the same way that people who eat non-veg food on a daily basis would be hard pressed to wring a chicken's neck or tear a cow apart while its alive. For that you need a butcher only.

So, what is the solution for such people. Can they be changed? No. Primarily because they themselves believe they are perfect. People around them can at best avoid engaging with these natives. Some problems have no solutions and are best avoided.

Problem on relying on Graha karakatwa based analysis

I came across a couple of books on Meena Nadi Jyotisha by R Gopalkrishna Rao. Flipping through them it became clear why relying on Graha based analysis versus Cusp based analysis is so fraught with mistakes. To clarify, my analysis makes use of cusp significations as a primary predictive force and graha karakatwa as a secondary one. So for career I will look for DBA of planets that signify 2 6 10 11. I worry about the actual planets which constitute the DBA only later. So If Jupiter or Saturn are coming in the DBA than I might say that the person will work with large organisations. If Rahu or Ketu or Saturn are part of an overseas chart then I say say that the job will be in less developed countries. Something like that.

In graha karakatva, Saturn is always considered the planet for service, So planets associated with Saturn will suggest the type of job. The problem with relying on this is that it is so open to interpretation. Let me demonstrate.

The books I read, classify signs as per direction. So planets lying in a sign that belong to the same direction will be considered as conjunct. Those conjunct with and aspecting Saturn will determine the career part of the native.

So all the planets that fall in the EAST direction will be clubbed together and they will be aspected by all the planets that fall in the WEST direction.

Now numerous people have consulted with me over the months. I  got together a list of Chartered Accountants and compiled their charts in the above format and the results were as follows:

Now readers can assess for themselves. Is there a pattern to planets that are conjunct with or aspecting Saturn? Yes! Mercury or Moon are either aspecting or conjunct with Saturn the karyaka for service. Mercury is the karyaka for business and accounting and also education while Moon is one of the royal couple (since Chartered Accountants are State-certified under an Act of the Parliament). One also sees Mars or Jupiter involved. That can be interpreted as the 'guard dog' role or the advisory role of Chartered Accountants.

But each of these planets can also be interpreted quite differently. Mars can mean armed forces or land related, Mercury can mean communication, Jupiter can mean judiciary or educational institutions and Moon can mean something as removed as a 'dairy' or travel related.

So if I know this person is a C.A., I can link all these planets and explain why he is a C.A., but given the chart it is near impossible to have any predictive ability of the chart.

It is this reason why people who rely on sign and planet karyakatwa are forced to rely so much on flowery language and mythology and frankly stories, because they need to fill their consultation time (usually it is 30 minutes) with this jargon as they are unable to predict at all.

Just yesterday someone who consulted with me the first time said that a famous astrologer charged him US$40 over and above his fee for just taking 10 minutes extra time.

This graha and sign karakatva business was okay 5000 years back when there were handful of professions; farmer, army, ruler, priest, doctor. These things can only spin stories now, not give answers.

I rest my case...

This is in continuation of my earlier post. My prediction has again come correct. Now anyone can say that they know more than one of the most honest Defence Minister of India, but that will only show their own intelligence and not of anyone else:

#PoliticsPost Surgical strike vs. Crossborder raids

In their sickening game of one-upmanship, the Congress has targeted the first surgical strike (SS) that Indian government had ordered the Indian army to do in response to Pakistan's Uri provocation. Congress has moved from "prove raid happened" to "so what? we used to do surgical strikes all the time!". Talk about shifting goal posts! But that is what dim minds do when cornered into a position and finding themselves short of facts. They shift goal posts.

In any case, media has let loose some information about an operation called Ginger in 2011 which is being touted as an example of a surgical strike. It is interesting, that those people who say that surgical strikes were not an uncommon occurrence can come up with only one example. Notwithstanding, the treacherous act of giving military information in the public domain just to win some political brownie points, there are some basic issues with this new narrative that opposition politicians are trying to peddle through their friends in the media.

Worse are the idiots who think they are glorifying he army by accepting the Congress' contention that every cross border raid is an SS. They are actually insulting the Indian army that has long fought a hard, long battle with its one (political) arm tied behind its back. Allow me to elucidate.

If the newest story, operation Ginger is to be considered not a cross border raid but a surgical strike, then by the same logic we have to accept that the act by Pakistanis of beheading our soldiers was also a surgical strike by them, isnt it? So the beheading of Hemraj ji by Pakis few years back with no retaliation from our side will have also to be conceded as a successful surgical strike by the Pakis against the Indian Army, right? So are these people calling every willy nilly crossing of the border an SS, saying that Pakis regularly do surgical strikes against our army?!

It is for this reason that the distinction between a SS and a cross border raid (CBR) or an ambush mission must be made. Every cross border action cannot be a SS. Crossing over a few 100 meters into enemy territory while and anti terror operation is on cannot be called a SS, it would be hot pursuit.

We need to understand what a surgical strike is. The traditional understanding is as follows:

"A surgical strike is defined as a military attack intended to inflict damage on a specific target, with little or no collateral damage to surrounding areas.

A surgical strike is "a calculated manoeuvre to ensure you deliver maximum damage which gives a big surprise to your adversary", explained former air chief Fali Homi Major"

A surgical strike is carried out with the political backing of the highest level of the government.

A cross border raid on the other hand is a shallow raid, at infantry level with no top sanction. CBRs are carried out at the risk of the army itself. If anything went wrong the army officers would be in the dock. In case of a SS, the responsibility of the success or failure of the strike lay with the government, not only the army. This is the BIGGEST difference.

I will be surprised if Manmohan Singh was even aware of this operation Ginger! Approving it is whole another matter!

Several people quote General Bikram Singh as saying SS have happened earlier. They are only twisting the venerable General's words. He said "India has crossed the LoC before, but never at this scale." Earlier it was left to the infantry. (credit to unsubtledesi for this transcript)

What does this (Ginger) sound like? An SS sanctioned at the highest level in Delhi or a small scale, ground level infantry cross border raid.

Now the idiot argument would be an SS is an SS, scale doesn't matter. This is like saying entering someones house and scolding him is the same as entering that persons house and murdering him. Bhai...in military operations, scale is everything! Size does matter (no matter what you tell yourself to sleep better at night).

The point is, this time our boys had the sanction of the highest levels of our government to go BEHIND Pakistani positions (3-6 km in fact) and take out high value targets and hit the terror infrastructure hard. This is what the present DGMO meant when he called this current action a surgical strike and said we have never done this before. It was the scale difference Gen. Bikram Singh was talking about.

It is interesting that The Hindu, which I understand broke this story is also referring to it as a "tit-for-tat", "ambush", and a "cross border raid" in the article itself. They are themselves not sure if this was a surgical strike or an ambush or a cross border raid, all very different things! Or this is a clever game to  muddy the waters and steal credit from our brave army which have successfully completed the first surgical strike and signaled a change in India's Pakistan policy.

In fact, military veterans have raised the same point. Do not call all cross border operations as surgical strikes!

In fact, check the next tweet. The officer responsible informed his senior officers apparently AFTER the strikes were done. This may have been done for plausible deniability if things had gone wrong. This is the biggest sign that this was a cross border raid with no sanction from the political leadership, thus precluding us from calling it a SS. Notably, I do not see any specific note that information was given to the government or permission sought beforehand!

So kindly stop blindly believing your political masters, and stop insulting our Indian Army by indirectly insinuating that Pakistanis have carried out several surgical strikes against India. Our Army has so far fought without political backing and only on its sheer grit and patriotism. Do not let your idiocy cloud your judgement.

Special thanks to @unsubtledesi  and @cestmoiz for inspiring me to compile this writeup.

Is it true that India has done "Surgical Strikes" before the one in response to Uri?

There are a lot of views about this, with the army ex-DGMO, and a political party (currently getting uncomfortable with sitting in opposition) giving differing views. While even the ex DGMO says that some minor cross border operations may have taken place earlier at a local level, they cannot be called surgical strikes.

While most sane people have agreed that the ex DGMO has called the particular political party's bluff, there is no doubt some idiots will continue to believe the politicians and not the army.  There is no doubt in this jyotisha's mind that the Indian armed forces were ALWAYS capable of capable of carrying out the strikes, BUT, it was ONLY the lack  of political spine that was holding them back. Finally, India seems to have got that with the presence of Modi in power.

In fact the sheer idiocy of these claims from the politicians is revealed by this 2011 article in which the then army chief of India discussed the capability of surgical strikes. This article was in context of the USA having eliminated Osama in Pakistan in one such surgical strike and India's capability to execute similar operations. The General clearly stated: “All the three wings (army, navy and air force) are capable of carrying out such operations, when needed. But we need permission from the top for this,”

In fact there was another article from few years back that said, "India does have the Special Forces, but they have been largely used as a kind of super-infantry - employing them on missions which the regular army would baulk at. We don't lack brave men, but we don't possess the combination of political will, politico-military-intelligence integration and specialised technology that make these operations possible."

The repeated theme is that our soldiers are brave and capable, but our POLITICIANS do not give permission.

Now that Modi has allowed the armed forces to do the right thing, every worm in the woodwork and their minions on the ground and among public have come up with how "surgical strikes" have been carried out many times. If this is true, then why did the political masters in 2011 with the entire media mechanism in their control not counter these claims by their own army chief? If they say national security, then is one to assume that they are ok to jeopardise national security right now?! And if they are ok to play with national security now for measly brownie points, how much credibility should we give to any claims they come out with!?

Anyway, these arguments can go on till the cows come home, and then some. I decided to ask if the information that India has done surgical stikes before the current one is correct? The chart and Nadi significators are as follows:

Since the question pertains to information being correct or not, we have to look at the 3rd CSL. KP says if 3rd CSL is connected to Jupiter, then the information is correct (ie. India has done surgical strikes before this one). If it is connected to Saturn or Mars the information is NOT correct (ie. India has NOT done surgical strikes before this one).

As we can see the 3rd CSL is Rahu. Rahu is in Venus star and not connected to Jupiter in anyway. Rahu is however a representative of Saturn as Saturn has its powerful 10th aspect, in fact to the EXACT degree, As such it is clear that the information is not correct.

Even looking at the Nadi significators, the Dba of Ve-Sa-Ra is saying the information is NOT correct. Saturn is the natural significator of lying. Plus DBA is dominated by malefics.

Venus has full combination of 3 6 8 12, suggesting that the information is false.
Saturn has 12
Ra has 8 12

It is clear that the information is wrong and this in indeed India's FIRST surgical strike. Remember, like that DGMO said, surgical strike is a technical term with a specific meaning.

This jyotisha is deeply saddened that he has had to take a look at a chart to prove the ex DGMO correct. For this jyotisha the word of the army is sacrosanct. I do not doubt it one iota.

However for those unfortunate souls who want to believe that a disgraced political party is correct and not the army head, I had to check. May such unfortunate souls get well soon.

Will Trump back out of U.S. Presidential Polls?

With the unprecedented situation of Trump's sexist recordings being revealed to the public, he seems to have lost his already tenuous support among the Republican party as well. So will he back out?

I cast the following chart and significators:

The ongoing DBA is Ve-Su-Ra.

Venus signifies the 3 6 8 and 7 8 combinations which suggest that he might lose his nomination in an acrimonious environment. It has a 10 but a lone 10 cannot beat 6 8.

Sun signifies 5 8 which shows opposition (within party winning), 5 9 (attempts at letting him go amicably) and 7 8 (attempts failing and acrimony happening).

Rahu is the most negative of the lot. It signifies the full combination of 3 6 8 12, i.e. of losing the nomination. Rahu is also a separative, a malefic and interestingly also posited in Leo, the sign of government. Additionally Rahu is also the 6th CSL and 3rd CSL, exacerbating his troubles.

Both Asc and 7th CSL (opponent) is Jupiter, which suggests that the initiative will come from the governing body of the Republican party.

The result above is indeed interesting as its too late for the Republican Party to itself remove Trump. They can at best force him to back out himself. Maybe that is why 7th CSL and 1st CSL are the same? Lets wait and see!

Who will be the next Army Chief of Pakistan?

I tried to solve it using the Ruling Planets. While this has worked for me several times, I am unable to get a comfort on this hence working on this principle more to get that comfort.

There are four choices for the replacement of General Raheel Sharif. As usual in Pakistan you can never ignore the incumbent who may decide to topple the PM instead of retiring himself.

I asked the question on who will be the next head of Paki forces and laid out the options:

1) Ramday
2) Hayat
3) Ishfaq
4) Bajwa
5) Raheel Sharif

The ruling planets at 2:25PM are as follows:

Asc sign lord: Saturn (10 and 11)
Moon star lord: Mer (3 and 6)
Moon sign lord: Mars (1 and 8)
Day lord: Jupiter (9 and 12)

Since one of the planets are in a retro star, we will include everyone.

The total comes to 6. The number of options are 5. 6 - 5 = 1, therefore option number 1. Therefore, Lieutenant General Javed Iqbal Ramday, commander of XXXI Corps will become the next head of Pakistani armed forces.

Lets wait for December and see if the Ruling Planets have obliged me!

Disease Diagnosis: Liver trouble or Cholesterol

A fellow jyotisha had been facing several health troubles. After getting the blood tests done, he was given a preliminary diagnosis which suspected two conditions. He asked me the following question:

This is the chart of mine. I am at presently running in DBA of Jupiter-Saturn-Mercury. I have continuous health problems from past 4 months due to the adverse transit of Jupiter in 8th house and Saturn is in 11th house. Sometimes it is cough & cold, infection in throat, seasonal fever, acidity, constipation, hypertension (both high & low blood pressure) etc. and sometimes due to gastric problems pain in chest, head, stomach & legs. From last 3-5 days I have viral fever and cough & cold and as per doctor’s advice, I have to done my blood test day before yesterday. Today reports come to my hand and I have found some disease at initial (starting level) level. What may it be –

1. Disease of cholesterol misbalancing between HDL, LDL & VLDL;
2. Thyroid Problem;
3. Exceeding the prescribed level of Bilirubin causing Jaundice in Lever;
4. Infection in blood causing fever like Malaria or Dengue;
5. Glucose level in blood was found high causing Blood Sugar;
6. A symptom of increasing of prostate gland was found;

So I had to select the same two conditions that were chosen by his doctors. His chart and significators are as follows:

Health has always been the bee in my bonnet, as I am yet to come across any methodology to correctly diagnose disease. I attribute this to my (and astrology community's general lack of medical knowledge). As such I am still on the look out for any coherent methodology that one can follow to diagnose disease. Even though in the current case I was able to correctly predict, the reality is that without a limited set of options I would not have been able to. I would be grateful to readers who can send me their charts with any illness that I will try to diagnose. They will need to tell me the illness as well at this stage so that I can evolve a method that works for atleast 70-80% of the charts.

Ok, this is how I worked on it:

First I saw the DBA he had said in which he became ill. It was Ju-Sa-Me.

Looking at the significators I realised that only Saturn has the combination of 1 6 12 (of illness). So it was the primary cause of the disease and I focused my attention only on that planet.

Saturn is in Jupiter's star and will thus primarily give results of Jupiter.

Jupiter  rules the liver. Jupiter is an expansive planet and hence it governs any excess in the body, whether it is excess growth (cancer) or excessive production of any enzyme etc. Jupiter is a fatty planet so any excess fat is also governed by Jupiter.

Notably Jupiter is in rapt conjunction with Mars that is the karaka for blood. Jupiter is in the sign of Pisces, which is a watery sign, of pure water, so it is something that could be impacting the blood.

Since Venus is needed to be related to be associated with Jupiter for causing diabetes, I eliminated option 5.

Since the 8th house or Scorpio sign is needed to come into play for the prostrate I eliminated option 6.

Since neither Rahu nor Ketu were involved I eliminated option 4. Since in my limited experience germ caused diseased need one of these planets there.

Now Thyroid was a distinct possibility. However the only reason I eliminated it was because in my readings I have come across the nugget that Moon needs to be involved for Thyroid problem. This eliminated option 2.

So then I was left with options 1 and 3. Now we all know that Cholesterol is a waxy, fat-like substance that's found in all cells of the body. So that fit in with the character of Jupiter as ruler of fatty substances.

Option 3 was increased production of bilirubin which also fit in with the character of Jupiter as a expansive (increased production) and liver ruling planet.

These two were my final diagnoses. I have been informed that my diagnosis is correct.

In fact just received this note from the fellow jyotisha:

"This is one of the best explanations. I really appreciate your readings. Even in KP, I think, you understand the facts that to judge the disease, how roles of Signs and Karaka Planets has to be scrutinized."

I have fallen into the trap again, kick me (Maharashtra CM, Devendra Fadnavis)

Having vowed off doing any mundane astrology atleast twice before I have fallen into the same temptation again. But its not my fault. The same 'royal jyotish' on the regional TV channel keeps harping on about Devendra Fadnavis being fired from the CM's post in Maharashtra.

It irritated me enough to risk it and try to check out the answer. I am not uploading the chart but will give the chart details here:

27 Sept 2016
23:35:31
Mumbai
Seed: 17

DBA is of Ke Mo Ju

Ke signifies 3 4 5 6 10 11; 3 5 6 7 10 11; 4
Mo: 4; 3 4 5 6 10 11; 4
Ju: 5 9 12; 5; 2 6 7

Ketu and Moon are outright positive thus negating any chances of Dev Fadnavis not completing his term.

Jupiter has 5 9 12, but since 5 is not a natural duh sthan, it will go with 9 rather than with 12. Also, the 6 at sub level is not connected with the 12 at the planet level. As such we can say even Ju is positive for Dev Fadnavis.

Devendra Fadnavis will complete his term.

#PoliticsPost Cooking a frog: An analysis of the Indian response to the Uri provocation

It is said that if a frog is placed in hot water it will jump out immediately. However if a frog is put in cold water and a very small flame lit under so that the temperature of the water rises slowly, the frog will continue to sit there and get cooked alive.

India faces a unique situation in the aftermath of the Uri massacre by Pakistan. It was an audacious and obviously provocative act by the enemy that has outraged the people of this country. Tempers are high, as is to be expected, and even The Bookkeeper must plead guilty to a temporary lapse of reason on this count.

But the constant stream of outrage by well-meaning Right Wingers (RWs) with no constructive or incisive analysis set The Bookkeeper thinking. It is unlikely that the Pakistani general who ordered the cowardly attack on our soldiers did not anticipate this reaction from the Indian population. After all, we have a “nationalist Hindu” Prime Minister who was elected on the plank of being tough on terrorism etc. Surely at attack such as Uri would propel this nation to compel PM Narendra Modi to order some sort of a strike or hot pursuit.

So then isn’t it possible that a strike by India was Pakistani army’s base case scenario! In which case had India reacted violently, we would have played into the hands of the Pakistani army. Anyone with any sense of warfare will tell you, that in a war it is suicidal to do whatever the enemy is expecting.
What did the Pakistani military establishment expect to achieve with this ‘kriya-pratikriya’ that they tried to provoke then? Well, the answer is straight-forward to The Bookkeeper. It was a plan to destabilize the civilian leadership of Pakistan and takeover in a military coup.

It is widely speculated in foreign policy circles, that while countries have an army, Pakistan is an army with a country. An army needs funding. That funding comes only when the need for an army remains relevant. Everyone agrees that the leadership in Pakistan is divided between the civilian and the military, with the military having the upper hand (as anyone holding a gun to your head tends to have over you). It is no wonder that Pakistan has almost spent more time being ruled by military despots than by elected governments.

The Uri Gambit is another coup attempt by the Pakistani army, in the opinion of The Bookkeeper.

Since taking reins, Narendra Modi has very intelligently tried to bring the civilian leadership of Pakistan to the fore. Right from inviting Nawaz Sharif to his swearing-in to dropping in ‘unannounced’ at a family function of the Sharifs, Modi has extended every possible personal courtesy possible. It is also not an accident that these instances were mentioned by the External Minister Sushma Swaraj in her speech to the UNGA.

The world has seen that Narendra Modi is such a personality that even those associated with him shine in his reflected glory. The Bookkeeper is willing to bet that a Narendra Modi hug or selfie will secure more votes for Nawaz Sharif than a dozen rallies by the Pak PM. It is this rising popularity of the civilian administration that has irked the military leadership. Heaven forbid that the elected PM of Pakistan be able to stand up to the military head!

As such it is scared of losing relevance and wants to take back the reins of power. However, with India having a no nonsense leadership, coupled with upcoming elections in the USA the military leadership is wary of taking a anti democracy step such as a military coup. More than anything else, The Bookkeeper would not be surprised if the Pakistani people have had enough of the military coups too!

However, a military coup may seem justifiable if there is a military aggression from India. In fact Pakistani army may even be in a position to spin such a coup as India’s fault. Imagine the fodder it would provide to the talking heads in Indian news media to discredit Narendra Modi for destabilizing the region. It would singlehandedly pour water over two years of international diplomacy handled by the Prime Minister himself.

It is in this context that the circumspect reaction of Narendra Modi makes you want to respect the man more. In face of an onslaught of taunts from his core supporter base he has ensured that he is doing the correct thing and not the popular thing. His first priority is to ensure that the Pakistani military does not get support from the Pakistani people. An open armed assault will do the exact opposite. It is for this reason that Modi chose to address the people of Pakistan directly in his party meeting rally at Kohzikode recently.

The best way to alienate the Pakistani army from the Pakistani people and civilian leadership is to walk a thin line. Punish the people, but only to the point when they hate their army for putting them through this, but don’t punish them so much that that they get desperate and back their army. Modi is walking this line. And this he has to do not just in fact but also in optics.  At no point should Pakistan be able to project to the world that India has left it no choice but for military to forcibly assume leadership.

Steps such as re-looking at the Indus Water Treaty is a great start. Someone in Pakistan receiving a little less water is likely to get irritated at the Pak army for causing India to do this, rather than lead him to support Pak army. Banning Pakistani artists from India will be another great step. (I know Karan Johar doesn’t agree with it, but the day we take any advice from ‘KJo’ seriously, is the day hell is freezing over). Artists are (sadly) opinion makers in today’s 140 character world. It is this conviction that leads people like Aamir Khan want to talk about leaving India etc. Why is it not logical to assume that Pakistani artists enjoy a similar disproportionate mind space in their country? A Pakistani actor or singer not getting work in India and forced to settle in Pakistan may cause him/her to do more damage to the support for military leadership than a dozen op-eds. Another good way would be to make getting visas to India impossibly difficult. A Pakistani parent whose child is unable to get treatment in Narayana Hrudayalaya is going to be a better ambassador against the Pakistani army than whatever can be sent over in dossiers. A Pakistani trader who misses out on profit due to cancellation of MFN status, will champion the Indian cause more aggressively than the most vocal of RW intellectuals.

It is no wonder that even those talking heads and so-called diva journalists who are perceived by social media at large to be pro Pakistan are supporting hard (read: military) action against Pakistan but are vociferously campaigning against Pakistani actors being banned. It’s because they know military action will favour the military leadership in Pakistan while soft action will hurt them. See, so far the people of Pakistan have not borne the brunt of what their army does in India. Take the heat (not the fire) to them.

Narendra Modi, what was a brilliant move by the Pakistani army can be turned around on them. This is your chance, light a very low flame where the frog called the Pakistani army boils to death in the gradually heating water of Pakistani public opinion.

When will my pet Molly (fish) give birth?

This is one of the more unusual questions I have studied. Someone worried about their pet fish Molly who had not given birth to her fry asked me this question.

This Q once again highlights that the only criterion to study the question is that the querent must have a pressing need to know. The practice of giving life reports for 10-15 years covering all aspects is something that I discourage. While a nicely packaged printout will command high charges, that is not the objective of jyotisha. It is a guidance tool for people caught on crossroads, not a thing of idle curiosity.

Anyway, what might be considered a frivolous question by many readers, was an important question for the questioner. And I proceeded to analyse the prashna chart. Note, pets are denoted by the 6th house and so I rotated the chart by the 6th house. The chart and Nadi significators are below:

Human or animal the birth houses remain the same (2 5 11) as do the birth denial houses (1 4 10). 5th CSL Venus strongly signifies the 11th house and weakly the 5th house, so birth of a spawn is not denied. In fact as per Nadi sigs, Venus signifies the full combination of 2 5 11 supporting birth.

The Dasha lord is Mercury, it too signifies the full combination of 2 5 11, so again a strong positive for birth.

Bhukti lord Venus is already seen above to be a strong significator of birth. Notably, both Dasha and Bhukti lords appear as RPs.

Current Antara lord Mars is also allowing child birth, as is the next antara of Rahu (in fact Rahu with the full combination 2 5 11 is stronger).

So birth is imminent. I turned to see the transit of the Moon to pinpoint the date. At the time of asking the Q, the moon was already in the 3rd house. It will transit the 5th house on 22nd and 23rd September.

So I told the querent, the Molly will give birth on either 22nd or 23rd of September.

I had almost forgotten about this query, till I heard that native can see some fry swimming around the water at about 22:00 tonight. :)

Stock market astrology

If after the question of marriage, any question that is asked more of astrologers it is the question of "Will I make money from gambling or stock market?". While this author having run a hedge fund of his own does not equate gambling with stock market at all, it is worth noting that both come under the sway of the 5th cusp. The 5th cusp also governs things like art, sports, entertainment...things that have to do with the 'gut'. In that sense, yes stock market too has a 'gut' factor involved and it comes under the 5th cusp.

While questions relating to specific stocks are best solved using the Prashna chart, the basic construct of being 'lucky' in these matters has to be present in the natal chart. Always remember, a prashna chart cannot override the natal chart. If the natal chart says no money from stock market, then whatever prashna charts are cast, will either give wrong answer or will give right answer but for some reason or the other the native will be unable to act on the advice.

So what makes a native lucky in these matters?

The 5th CSL is the final decider of the matters of the 5th cusp. So the 5th CSL must be favorably disposed. By favorably what do we mean? It should be in the star of a planet that either owns or occupies the wealth generating houses.

While we normally consider 1 2 3 6 10 11 as wealth generating houses, in case of stock market we want the most powerful of these. Otherwise a 10-12% return one can get from fixed income also in India. So the most powerful are the direct houses of wealth:

2 - known as Dhana (wealth) sthan (house) itself
6 - loss to opposition (12th from 7th)
11 - known as house of gain/ desire fulfillment

So if the natal 5th CSL is in the star of any planet that either owns or occupies 2/6/11 then the person is lucky in the stock market.

HOWEVER, (sadly, as always in life there are conditions attached)

The same 5th CSL must not be in a star of a planet that owns or occupies that 5th or the 8th cusp.If this is the case then it will depend on the strength of the significance of 5/8 but the windfall gains associated with the stock market will not be there generally for such a native.

For timing of the investments, it is best to see if the DBA lords are also satisfying the conditions above. i.e. D/B/A lords should be in the star of a planet that is owning/occupying the 2/6/11 houses and not in the star of planets that own/occupy 5/8 houses.

Lets look at the chart of someone I know who also works in the markets and has done well for himself:

Lets see the basic structure of the chart. The 5th CSL is Venus. Venus is in the constellation owned by Moon. Moon is posited in the 9th cusp and it owns the 2nd cusp.

Thus the 5th CSL is placed in the star which owns 2nd cusp and has connection with the 5th or 8th cusp. This is a good chart for the native to speculate in the stock market.

But this is only possibility. The actual delivery will be by the DBA lords who also have to be in favourable nakshatras (constellations). So first lets list out the planets whose constellations we can consider favourable. These would be those planets that own/ occupy 2/6/11 but do not own/occupy 5/8.

2nd cusp -  owner: Moon (2, 9); occupant: Sun (2,3)
6th cusp - owner Mars (3,6,10,11); occupant: None
11th cusp - owner Mars (2,6,10,11); occupant: Jupiter (11, 7)

So all the planets associated with 2/6/11 are owners of favourable nakshatras: Moon, Sun, Mars, Jupiter.

So the DBAs of following planets: Venus, Jupiter, Mercury and Mars will be favorable for speculation. As these are the planets for whom Mo/Su/Ma/Ju appear as starlords.

The native had his Venus Dasha from Nov 1982 to Nov 2002, and I do not know much about thhat period. Sun's dasha started then and went on till Nov 2008. During this period despite Sun signifying houses 5 and 12 through its starlord (Venus), the native did fairly well primarily because he worked abroad (away from his place of birth) thus utilizing the the 12th house alternatively. The '5' operated with the native having worked in multiple roles in the same organisation, working from admin side to research to business etc. But overall, it was a good period for him due to the alternative use of 12 and the sublord Mercury signifying 1 and 3 (which are wealth creating houses).

It should also be noted that due to 4 favourable for speculation planets (which are also good for career), the bhuktis in the periods Aug 2003 to Jan 2004, Nov 2004 to September 2005, Aug 2006 to July 2007 and Nov 2007 to Nov 2008 must have been good for the native career wise.

Then the Dasha of Moon started. While Moon was in Star of Ketu, its sublord Venus through its signification of house combination 5 12 was able to divert results to the negative. Notably, at this time the native had bought his own dwellings in a foreign country and had decided to domicile there. As such the 5 12 combination operated in full force in his career.

In Mo-Mo the native left his established job and did quite well till April 2010 which was under Mo-Ma. After Mo-Ra started, the entire period was under tremendous stress (April 2010 to October 2011). In this period he had to shut his newly started company for less than expected performance. Just look at Rahu's Nadi significations, really bad ones:

Ra 2 3 5 9 12
Ra 2 4 5 9 12
Sa 1 8 9

A full combination of 5 8 12, with no mitigating 10 11, one cannot imagine the stress the person must have been in. The combination of 2 1 8 12 is a variation of the 2 1 6 8 combination for depression and thus the native may have been led into depression temporarily. But thankfully it was just over a year.

The coming of Jupiter bhukti provided relief. Jupiter is the best natural benefic and is also a positive planet in this chart. While dasha was unfavourably, Jupiter signified 10 11 and thus the native got a new job, though it was not an ideal one and did well.

The last few bhuktis commencing from Saturn, Mercury and Ketu are stories of triumph over struggles and wins, perhaps not easy ones, but wins.

Currently the native is in Venus Bhukti since Sept 6, 2016 and will be in it till 8 May 2018. This will be a good period for the native. He should try and travel more to mitigate the impact of 5 12 combination and indeed travel seems destined.

The Sun bhukti of May 2018 to Nov 2018 will be a difficult period because it is a bad bhukti in a bad dasha.

The next dasha however is going to be superlative for the native. Mars dasha from Nov 2018 to Nov 2025. In these seven years, the native will make more money than he had imagined.

First reason is that as discussed earlier Mars is in the star of Moon which signifies 2nd house and is not connected with 5th or 8th. The second reason is that the 6th house is empty.  Its house lord Mars is untenanted. Mars does not appear as the sublord for any other planet either. This makes Mars the only significator of the 6th house. 6th house is the primary house of victory. The native will make unprecedented amount of money in the Mars Dasha!

Sometimes a negative answer is the good one

A construction contractor contacted me today with respect to a road contract he is bidding for. Its worth several crores and myself having some experience in this area, know that this was a very lucrative sector (roads). On the face of it anyway.

As some readers might know, the 'hoops' one has to jump through and the pockets one has to allegedly line to get work in this space. The contractor was willing to do this. But being a regular client he decided to ask me a question:

If I get this contract, will it give me expected profits?

The chart and significators are given below:

Moon signifies houses 2,6,10 indicating the question (about profits) is indeed reflected in that chart. Even the presence of Saturn in the DBA suggests the question has something to do with land (roads). So I can continue to analyse the chart for the answer.

DBA is Sa-Mo-Ve.

Saturn has the combination of 5 12, which indicates loss to the native as 12th house is 6th house for the 7th (opposite party) and 5th house is the 11th house for the opposite party. There is a lone 11th house, but an 11th house on its own cannot counter the negatives of a 5 12.

Moon bhukti is actually positive.

Venus has a 7 8 12 and 5 7 12 combination which is not only negative for profits but also indicates bickering, fights and being cheated by a partner.

So overall the DBA is showing a negative outcome. I may go even so far as to venture saying that forget not making money to their expectations, the contractor may even make losses in this project.

In fact even if I look at it from a K.P. stand point, the 11th CSL Sun is signifies the 11th house through ownership and occupation. It is in the own star and as such we should take the sublord as the starlord (Ra). Ra's significations are:

occupation: 11
conj with Me: 11, 9 12; 1, 8 12
Asp by Sa: 2, 4, 5; Me: 11, 9 12
Sat (Ve): 1, 8 12
Sign of Sun: 11, Ra 11

The 11th CSL is strongly giving results of the inimical 8 and 12 houses. Supporting the prediction that this is not a contract they want to get.

It was hard for this jyotisha to give a negative answer to this question, esp when the native had traveled a long distance to go and get this contract. But my dharma is to answer honestly what I see. And considering that the native may face a huge unexpected loss on this deal, sometimes the negative answer is the good one!

Typical Vedic B.S.

My apologies to regular readers of my blog for being unable to write new examples. The reason for that is simple, lack of time and lack of any interesting cases. In fact haven't seen a good query in weeks! But since this blog is for education, and education means not just informing what to do, but also what not to do, I am appending the full text of an email sent to me by someone who has consulted with me several times before.

This lady had consulted with a 'vedic' asstrologer few weeks back. He is quite famous in that even I've heard of him. He gives interviews on youtube and expounds on grahas in very colourful language. But that's all that vedic asstrologers do, don't they? To make up for lack of knowledge with mythology :)

Anyway, this is the actual question sent by the lady to this astrologer and his reply (I am paraphrasing to protect the identity of the querent):

When would I be able to get a job/ employment and in which geography (India/ Dubai/ or any other)? Also if the job would be in my area of expertise or some other area and if it will be a good job?

Even a 6 month old baby would know the question is: When will I find a job? The other two questions are for better understanding of the type of job.

This is the reply:

You are running sani mahadasha from 2002 to 2021.This is your 3rd dasha called as Vipat, so creating difficulty and obstacle in life.

It's time to travel and stay away from birth place.

Sani is seated with rahu in 12house, foreign house.

This is time for doing fixed/secured work(Job) only, no business or any unsecured work.

After sani dasha budh dasha good time.Budh is lord of career and personal growth.so this dasha will grow you.Again you will be completing 42age also.

So presently search job in middle east(muslim) country till 2021. Then can start own consultancy work.

Never do own business or partnership work. Only job then own profession only.

Now if you have read my last blog the obvious B.S. in this reply is self evident.

Like I said, Vedic asstrologers cannot answer the question (i.e.when will I get job?). You will notice that he hasn't mentioned any date or date range. Like I said in my last blog, vedic astrologers are never wrong. How can they be, when they exclusively write weasel words! I am proud to say if I am wrong, it is because I dare to be right. Can this celebrity mythology spout-er say this with the same confidence?

The other thing I said in my last blog was that everyone who goes to a vedic astrologer comes back with some Dosha. Here the asstrologer has pointed out a 'vipat yoga' in this client's chart. Huh?! Why is the third dasha bad? No reason. My way...or the highway.

Since I know this client for few years now, (initially as a friend, now as their jyotisha consultant), I know for a fact that this person had a hand to mouth existence till 2001. It is only after the Shani Dasha started that this person made a lot of money abroad and is only facing some career troubles over the past 3-4 years.

If Shani dasha is vipat, then how was this person ever able to raise their family up from 1 meal a day to atleast 1 foreign holiday abroad every year (even today!!). That will never be explained by vedic asstrologers. They will only say, 19 years is bad for career. Does this joker even know what a two decade long bad career will do to someone?! But they say it anyway. Its like a butcher doing brain surgery with these guys.

Another point I had noted in my last blog was jargon to cover up ignorance. Hence he used 'vipat'.

Now I know that my friend had given this asstrologer her background and had told about having worked in the middle east. In fact 'Dubai' featured prominently in the question. So the asstrologer is only repeating what he knows in the rest of the reply. No prediction here.

The third question (will it be in the same field) has not been answered by the astrologer at all!

So out of three questions,

1) When will I get a job?  - not answered
2) Where? - repeated earlier details told to him
3) Industry - Did not address at all!

Created fear:
1) Vipat yoga!!! 19 years bad. Life over!
2) Jargon used, to cover ignorance
3) Unable to answer time frame
4) Regurgitated information known to him
5) Did not answer any question, as mentioned above

Now the native got worried and asked me. "I have vipat dasha, what is upaay"?! I told her to go back to the same astrologer and ask :) Some people will only be satisfied when they spend Rs21000 or more! Do not come back to me.

I am convinced that my policy of doing social service through education and cheap consultations is wrong. I frequently write, "If you are unable to pay me, I will read your chart for whatever you can comfortably afford". Then I entertain repeat queries from the same person for weeks or months on end. To be fair its not just Vedics but also at least one stellar astrologer who was brought to my attention a week or so ago by another client, who has given a "prediction after the fact".

Complete idiots like this asstrologer I mentioned here and the two others I referred to in my earlier blog, take weeks to send a non-answer to a serious question and are minting money. I should consider giving up my day job and becoming a professional asstrologer instead of being a student of Jyotisha. At the least, I have the guts to give a time frame!

What say?!

Astrologers...and Asstrologers...

As many who know me will attest I do not watch TV at all. In fact I do not have a TV connection. I find it a source of extreme negativity which plays in to the the basest fears and emotions of people. People generally (perhaps including me!) I feel, have a tendency to keep a story running in their minds. The story has absolutely nothing to do with reality, but it is extremely vivid. While a few people are the hero/ heroine of this schizophrenic narrative, a vast majority picture themselves as the victim. While being under any sort of delusion is plain stupid, the ones under this 'victim' delusion' are the worst. And TV plays into these people narratives. Anyway, more on this on some other date.

I was at a relatives house for Ganesh Chaturthi today and ended up watching about 30 minutes of TV. Since my relative knows I am a student of jyotisha, he put on a regional TV channels where a 'royal' astrologer was expounding on anything and everything. Political fates to the stock market. The entire piece was a pile of stinking bull crap. Heres a sample of what he said:

"Mars and Saturn are in conjunction, this is very bad, very very bad. This suggests terror attacks. Ganesh festival is a prime target. I hope the home minister of India and the chief minister of this state should listen to me. <Ganpati 1> and <Ganpati 2> are in risk of attack (he named the two MOST PROMINENT) and the police should be careful. The attack can even come from the coast line. This Mars and Saturn is very bad, very, very bad." (am paraphrasing here)

Of late, several of those who ask me for my jyotisha view used to inform me of transits of planets. Personally, I follow stellar principles and as such these random transits mean nothing to me. But this 'royal' astrologer was spouting so much ridiculousness that I decided to examine what he said in an objective manner.

The simple principle of science is that an experiment is repeatable. Now I understand astrology is not a science (its not...get over it). Though I may have referred to it as such a few times, it is only because of the phrase 'science of jyotisha' being imprinted in my mind. But even adjusting for its "more art than science" persona, readers would have noticed a remarkable similarity in the method I use to analyse charts. I give my method in detail and then check if I got it right or not. That is the most scientific that I can be. If I'm right, I'm right, if not, then I will learn.

Anyway, coming back to this 'royal' astrologer. He mentioned Mars+Saturn conjunction has caused increase in terror activity, so its bad for India. Ok. The biggest and most audacious attack India faced was 26/11/2008. Were Mars and Saturn Conjunct then? No. Saturn was in Leo and Mars was in Scorpio. Ok, maybe this missed. What about the infamous 1993 serial blasts in Mumbai (12 March 93)? Mars was in Gemini and Saturn was in Aquarius. What about the dastardly 9/11 attacks? Mars was in Sagittarius and Saturn was in Taurus. Bali bombings of 2005? Mars in Aries and Saturn in Cancer. I could go on.

This is the problem with so-called Vedic or traditional astrologers. What they say makes no sense whatsoever. I am being harsh, but the truth often is. If I am wrong, I have a method that I can retrace and then tweak to see if something else works and where I went wrong. Traditional astrologers feel absolutely ZERO need to ever correct themselves. You know why? Because they are never wrong! :) Seriously. Everytime a prediction goes wrong, they will have some aspect or 'yoga' that explains why it went wrong. So they don't need to correct it. Like I remarked to someone the other day, "Vedic astrologers can always predict an event accurately, after the event has already happened"

I am reminded of this other jyotisha on FB who keeps writing random stuff. Sample this:

"Jupiter and Venus parivartana...separation from Partner"

After giving several such nuggets (I am putting just one here), He ends this 'discourse' to us lowly humans with:

"My note...if these are not found correct...just forget and don't waste time in commenting"

Wow. Imagine if a doctor said this to you. I think you have T.B. but if you dont think its correct, dont ask me, just forget about it. While I do not hold astrologers (including myself) to the standard of doctors, just imagine the massive ego and conceit of this statement this venerable jyotisha put.

He doesn't want to know if the principle he is likely using to advise clients is wrong! I would welcome something which I did not agree with so that I could learn. I recently had a discussion with someone on my comments in one of the posts. I put my view and explained the basis for the same, I left the comment of the other person there and  requested to let me know if I was wrong. This is the attitude of a student, not that "my way or the highway approach"

How can any combination be a blanket good or bad? That itself is ridiculous. Lets take this famous Sa+Ma conjunction. Lets say this causes an enemy to execute a successful attack on a country. Ok. So its bad for the country. But isn't it a good combination (however sad) for the enemy? Since these combinations happen for the world as a whole, how can an astrologer take two random planets and say this is bad?! He can say it is bad with respect to one native.

This is the superiority of stellar methods over these so-called vedic 'astrologers'. A good stellar astrologer will never say, Jupiter is good for you. He will say, Jupiter is good for your career. Lets say Jupiter strongly signifies the 4th house. Then we can say Jupiter is good for education or property purchase. But since the 4th house is 8th from the 9th house of father, the same planet will be bad for the natives father. This is life. Its good with the bad, its rough with the smooth, it is give and take! Jyotisha is life, it is not removed from it. So how can one planet be a blanket 'good' or 'bad'?!

What else did he say? He named every possible type of attack! Were terror attacks not happening when the conjunction was not there? Should we ask our soldiers to rest the rest of the time, i.e. when Mars and Saturn are not in the same sign? (Mars takes about 1.5 years to go through all the signs, whereas Saturn is on one sign for 2.5 years). He named the two most prominent 'pandals' of Ganpati in Mumbai. They have been targets for years! What prediction has he given?! Nothing. And this joker has people eating out of his hands! Wow.

It is people like him who have brought disrepute to the 'science' of jyotisha. Mark my words, most 'vedic' astrologers will ONLY SCARE YOU. Everyone who goes to find out date of son's marriage comes back with the knowledge that the son is 'manglik' or the son has kaal-sarpa dosha or a paap-kartari yoga or guru chandal yoga. So then this astrologer will say you have to do this or that puja or shanti for this negative to go. So the parent came back with a Rs21,000 bill for a puja that will do nothing, and not to the answer to his question which was when will my son get married! Why did this happen? Because these 'vedic' people have zero predictive ability they will never answer questions that can be tested. They will only scare you.

There is a saying, the happy go to the jewellers, the sick go to doctors and the sad go to the astrologers. The astrologers was meant to provide context to these sad people. If (and its a big If) some remedy was possible then he would suggest a remedy. It was meant to teach people acceptance. If there were remedies for everything, then why would anyone in the world be sad?! And astrologers would have been the richest people in the world. Think!

I have no personal animus with these 'vedic' astrologers. But just from my experience I know...they know nothing. Absolutely nothing. Like the young yuppie who hides his stupidity behind jargons and acronyms, these guys will come up with impressive sounding yogas and combinations. They will have colourful names. PanchMahapurusha Yoga, Raj Yoga, Gaja Kesari Yoga, Paap Kartari yoga, Vipreet Raj Yoga, Raj Bhanga yoga..blah blah blah. They are fooling you. I realise how much they were fooling me now that I know a bit of jyotisha.

There is no single way to test these guys. And there is no need to, I know they are incapable based on my experience. But you can ask simple Qs like: 1) What is the meaning of ayanamsa? or 2) What is the difference between a 'house' and a 'sign' in a birth chart. At least check if this person you are seeking life advise from knows at least the basics!

Use an astrologer as one of the inputs in your decision making process, if you feel so inclined. Do not use ass-trologers.

This is just my opinion.
